Privacy Policy for “Feel The Story”

Effective Date: June 20, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how the sole developer (“I,” “me,” “we”) of the Feel The Story app collects, uses, and shares personal data.

  1. Data I Collect

    • Child’s name (stored locally on your device)
    • Device identifier (stored locally on your device and sent to Mixpanel)
    • Story progress & choices (stored locally on your device and sent to Mixpanel for analytics)
    • Parent feedback submissions (sent securely to my Firestore database)

  2. Third-Party Services

    • OpenAI Text-to-Speech (narration)
    • Mixpanel (usage analytics: receives device identifier, story progress, choices, and other event data)
    • Firebase Hosting & Firestore (content delivery & feedback storage)

  3. How I Use Your Data

    I use data to:

    • Personalize story playback on your device
    • Send story progress & choice events (and device identifiers) to Mixpanel to understand usage patterns, funnel completion, and retention
    • Improve the app based on parental feedback stored in Firestore

  4. Storage & Retention

    • Local data remains on your device until you reset or uninstall the app.
    • Feedback in Firestore is kept up to 2 years, unless you request deletion sooner.
    • Analytics data follows Mixpanel’s standard retention policy.

  5. Sharing & “Sale” of Data

    I only share data with the services listed above. I do not sell or trade personal data or use it for targeted advertising.

  6. COPPA (Children’s Privacy)

    Feel The Story is directed at children under 13. I do not collect personal data beyond what’s described above without verifiable parental consent, and parents can review or delete data at any time (see section 7).

  7. Your Rights (CCPA-Style)

    If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

    • Know what personal data is collected and how it’s used
    • Delete your personal data
    • Opt out of any hypothetical “sale” of data (though I do not sell data)

  8. Security

    All data in transit uses HTTPS. Feedback stored in Firestore is encrypted at rest.

  9. Updates to This Policy

    I may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” above will always reflect the latest version.
